Tubes tied = heavier periods?

I had my tubes tied 2 years ago, and I've been having slightly heavier periods since then. The last period I had was extremely heavy, I was soaking a regular tampon in a little less than an hour. I had to switch to super tampons. My ob/gyn told me that having my tubes tied could increase my flow, but I'm wondering about other women's experiences. Did having your tubes tied effect your period?
