Men, how would you deal with the news that your partner could be sick?

A few weeks back, my doctor called me back to his office urgently after receiving an ultrasound report of mine from the previous day. Something was noted on the report that shouldn't be there. He advised it Was crucial I see my specialist gyn ASAP. When I came home, I cried and told my partner that something could be really wrong. He hugged me and said not to worry, everything will be fine. I spent the entire weekend completely stressed and upset, he really didn't know what to do. I know people say that men want to fix things but I just want to know from men - how does news like that affect you? My partner has been stressed for weeks (money issues) and We haven't been intimate since before I got that news.
